My work is mainly portrait based and begins with quick sketches and doodles. It is inspired by people, fashion and also social media and the idea of the selfie. There is an interest in our fast paced social media world that is constantly moving and changing, and how we portray ourselves, see and feel about ourselves. Whilst painting I’m fascinated with abstract lines and marks that have been accidentally added or mis-copied in the translation from doodle to canvas. The results are sketchy and often comical portraits and illustration, with bold lines and a reduced palette – yet strong and vibrant colour.
Having graduated from the university of Wolverhampton in 2013, I began a portrait and fashion illustration directed art practice which has been developed over the years to the present day. Alongside a professional painting practice I have also developed a sideline of more commercial work and illustration, that often intertwine. I regularly exhibit at events and exhibitions local to the West Midlands and further afield, as well as independent shops.
Additionally art prints, greetings cards and more can now be found on my shop!
